Making available your services via the ACGT infrastructure
The ACGT infrastructure is an open grid based infrastructure through which an expanding set of resources (software services, data etc.) can be searched, accessed and combined into workflows in order to perform less or more complex tasks that are relevant to medical practitioners and bio-researchers in their daily activities.
These resources are created by a number of organizations that are affiliated with ACGT, may reside in different locations (servers) and adhere to a set of requirements in order to be 'ACGT Ready' (i.e. compatible with the ACGT infrastructure).
To make available your resource you must first be registered with ACGT. Any organization can register. To find out how, click here. Once you have registered, you will need to follow the steps described in the Checklist below.
Briefly, an ACGT Ready resource needs to meet the following requirements:
- Be searchable by the ACGT Directory
- Have a clearly documented API
- Have a succinct description of what it does, what results it returns and in what format
- Be provided with a simple scenario of use
- Be compatible with the security protocols of ACGT
- Have clear access rights specified
- Optionally list any other ACGT resources it may be making use of
- Have other necessary descriptive metadata available
- Where appropriate be compatible with the ACGT Master ontology
- Be maintained by the supplying organization for the duration of its availability via ACGT
- Being Open Source
The following section provides a detailed list of actions and relevant information for submitting an ACGT Ready resource.
Checklist for submitting a resource to ACGT
The following list of links is a comprehensive list of steps you need to follow in order to submit your resource and make it compatible with the ACGT infrastructure. You may print this checklist and use it to guide you through the submission process.
- Register with ACGT.
- Check the basic technical specifications and requirements of an ACGT Ready resource.
- Prepare the meta-data of your resource.
- Check the ACGT Master Ontology for compatibility. Where possible meta-data of your resource should use concepts that are defined in the ACGT Master Ontology.
- Ensure compatibility with the ACGT security and access rights infrastructure. You may wish to make your service available to all, only to registered ACGT visitors or to some restricted group. You may also wish to make your resource available for free or require some fee.
- Ensure compatibility with the Workflow Manager (if appropriate).
- Register your resource with the ACGT directory and the ACGT Portal so that it is searchable and accessible to end users.
- Test your application.
- Send your ACGT Resource Submission form to the ACGT Management Board.
